# Trading Restrictions

> Guidelines for trading on Polymarket US under compliance and eligibility rules

Polymarket US event contracts are regulated event-based derivatives. They reflect outcomes of real-world events, not company performance or securities.

## Who Can Trade

Employees at **sell-side institutions** (banks, broker-dealers, advisory firms) and **buy-side institutions** (hedge funds, family offices, private equity firms) are generally permitted to trade on Polymarket US, unless their firm's internal policies state otherwise.

## When You Should Not Trade

You should not trade if:

* Your firm interacts with event contracts as part of its business, or
* You possess **material nonpublic information (MNPI)** related to the event.
